Overview

A key part of the West Coast Poverty Center’s mission at the University of Washington is to prepare and mentor a new generation of poverty scholars and practitioners. To that end, the Center is now planning a doctoral program in poverty studies and an undergraduate minor program in Poverty and Policy, projected to be open for student enrollment beginning in Fall 2007 or Winter 2008. In this section of the website you will also find a list of relevant courses for graduate and undergraduate students interested in learning more about aspects of poverty. Our Opportunities for Students page, now being developed, will provide links to opportunities for poverty-related service learning, volunteer work, and other activities and resources.
